‘Read books to build vocab.’ This may sound a bit archaic, to be precise this is what every second person on this earth who may not have even read a single book after his/ her college would say. (Trust me… People love giving advices!) So how exactly does it help or is this just another site which lists out a large number of books and then tells me to read them to build a good vocab. No, this is where the difference is, first of all there exists no list of books which when read would help you build a good vocab. Any book helps you build it, any book helps you improve your reading skills and more than anything else any book helps you to imagine, to fantasize, to trip on things you have never done before. Here, you would find a vocabulary list from different books with a lot of pictorial representation attached with each word, which empowers you to tie the words down to your mind. Vocabulary building from books is perhaps the most useful way to build a good vocab… Why?? A series of sentences with new words show you the contextual meaning and usage of a word. Has it ever happened to you that after you read a whole sentence or a paragraph, you somehow decipher the meaning of a word, which you never knew before? Yes, that’s what I am talking about, understanding a word from its context. Even more, you can see how it is being used and power it has of taking you to various reverie levels. All this, by just reading a book! Bingo! Seems to be a deal breaker!
