Meaning: continue doing something
Example: I told him to be quiet but he kept on making noise.
Leave out
Meaning: omit, not mention
Example: I checked the list for my name, but I guess it was left out.
Make fun of
Meaning: laugh at/make jokes about
Example: That man has a very odd behaviour, everybody makes fun of him.
Nod off
Meaning: fall asleep
Example: While watching TV I nodded off last night.
Opt out
Meaning: leave a system or decide not to participate
Example: I never understood statistical analysis, so I opted out of it in the next semester.
Pass away
Meaning: die
Example: Jake did not come to school for two weeks because his grandfather passed away.
Rely on
Meaning: count on, depend on, trust
Example: You can always rely on Susan because she very punctual.
Set off
Meaning: start a journey
Example: One night my friends and I set off on our bikes to tour South India.
Take after
Meaning: resemble, in appearance or character
Example: Jignesh really takes after his dad. It reflects in the way he carries out his business.
Use up
Meaning: finish a product (completely)
Example: The boys used up their ration in the first two days of their five day camp.
